Frankie
Montiforte is
a
true native of Hollywood, born and raised in Beverly Hills among the film
industry elite, soaking up the history of television and cinema while living
among its best practitioners. His mother
worked for Frank Sinatra,
while while his father owned a successful Beverly Hills women's clothing stores
that costumed such stars as Lucille Ball, Linda Evans, Donna Mills, Joan
Collins, Heather Locklear and Suzanne Pleshette, as well as the casts of
Dynasty, Dallas, Hotel, Who's The Boss and other top-rated network shows.
A “film buff” in every sense of the word, with an encyclopedic
recall of the film industry and a keen appreciation for film noir and classic TV
detective shows, Frankie is a television writer whose specialties include
one-hour detective drama with strong individualistic street denizens looking out
for the little guy. He is presently developing several projects for film
and television as a writer and producer.
Frankie's production experience began in the early 1980s as a personal assistant
to director Dick Martin for the popular CBS-TV series Newhart starring
Bob Newhart and Mary Frann, and executive producer/writers Harold Gast and
B.W. Sandefur for the NBC-TV series
Hell Town starring Robert Blake.
His other production duties include stints as talent coordinator for the BET
Television special The Fourth Annual Celebration of Gospel;
post-production animator for the Dream Entertainment/Lionsgate feature film
100 Women; film editor for the Encore cable channel; and production
and post-production work on such popular feature films as Conan the
Barbarian, Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas
and The Blues Brothers.
In
addition, he was a production executive for Rosenbloom Entertainment on the
award-winning feature films Confessions of a Sexist Pig (1998; Best
Picture, Santa Barbara Film Festival) and Shiloh (Warner Bros., 1997).
A onetime film historian for Republic Pictures, Frankie is also former
co-proprietor of The Silent Movie Theatre in Hollywood, Calif., where he was
right at home overseeing the research of films for presentation and supervising
private events.
Prior to TV Confidential, Frankie provided weekly DVD commentary on
Talking Television with
Dave White (Share-a-Vision Radio); along with Ed Robertson, he
also filled in as co-host of the program on a monthly basis.
